When exactly does your penis stop growing?

As a young adult you may have wondered; maybe my penis just hasn’t finished growing? Whilst it may just be wishful thinking for some, when exactly does your penis stop growing?

The role of puberty in penile growth

You would have started to experience changes in your penis during puberty. You had a growth spurt, your voice got deeper, you grew more hair, and you started to notice some growth down there too. As your body and mind go through these fundamental changes, your penis and testicles begin to enlarge.

For boys, puberty usually begins between the ages of 9 to 15 and lasts for up to four years. Bodies come in all shapes and sizes, and when a person reaches puberty they differ from one another. That’s what makes teenage years so volatile, some kids are finished with puberty at 13 years old whilst others at 19! It’s a self-conscious time, comparisons are made, and it makes sense we can start to worry about our penis size from this age.

The process of penis growth

A penis takes a while to reach its fully developed size. You don’t just wake up one day with a penis inches longer (we wish). You may have first noticed the effect of puberty on your genitalia, with the growth of your testicles. Within a year of this development, your penis then starts to grow in length, followed by girth.

When does your penis stop growing?

Your penis grows due to puberty, meaning once you have reached puberty, it is unlikely you will experience more penile growth. There is an exception of course, with males experiencing late puberty and having some growth into their early 20s. But for most men, by the time you finish puberty, you have your fully developed penis.

Whilst people experience puberty at different rates; men usually reach their fully developed penis size between 18 and 21 years old. Most men will see the most penile growth between the ages of 11 to 15 years old.

What is the average length of a male penis?

There have been numerous studies completed in an attempt to determine the average size of the male penis. Researchers allow different variables, like allowing self-measuring or not. The most conclusive study we have found was published in 2014 in The British Journal of Urology by David Veale, Professor of Psychology at King’s College, London Medical School.

Professor Veale reviewed written studies of over 15,500 adult men with the following “average” results:

  • Flaccid length of 9.2cm (3.7 inches)
  • Erect length of 13.1cm (5.25 inches)
  • Flaccid circumference of 9.3cm (3.75 inches)
  • Erect circumference of 11.7cm (4.7 inches)

These figures are slightly different from what’s been quoted by other similar studies, but it gives a good gauge of what is “average.” Across researchers, the vast majority of men’s erect length was between 10 and 16cm (4-6.4 inches) and an erect circumference of between 9.5cm to 14cm (2.8-5.6 inches).

But what impacts the size of my penis? How big your penis becomes depends on your genetics, with more research still needed on any proposed environmental factors.

Men who have an average size penis often still feel self-conscious about its size. In this day and age, where we can enhance our appearance in new ways, it’s completely understandable to want a bigger, enhanced penis. In fact, up to 60% of men are unsatisfied with the size or appearance of their penis. We get it, and you’re not alone in feeling this way.

Just because you have stopped growing taller doesn’t mean your penis has reached its full potential. At CALIBRE Clinic, we offer a range of non-surgical treatments to increase the size of your penis. Yes, we said non-surgical. It’s also long-lasting (but reversible) and can be completed within an hour. Yes, please.

Explore our penis enlargement solutions with proven results. Our CALIBRE treatment is a cosmetic medical technique that injects dermal fillers just below the penile skin. Just like the hugely popular injection of dermal fillers into the lips and cheeks in recent years, more and more men are turning to CALIBRE to enhance their penis.

It’s been proven to noticeably increase erect and flaccid penis girth or circumference. It can also be used to augment the glans corona or rim of the penile head. A 15ml package will often increase flaccid circumference by 1 inch, which results in around 0.5 to 0.7 inches when erect.

If you would like to know more about the treatment options available, reach out to our team or certified CALIBRE Doctors. We will match you with a solution for the results you desire.
